Hot pot is very popular in Chengdu, and is known for the spicy hot flavors which can make the tasters tongue go numb! This is particularly nice in winter as the spiciness is very warming! To eat hotpot, just grab some friends, chuck in the pot what you fancy eating and wait for it to cook!

Mapo Beancurd (Mapo Doufu)
The dish was firstly cooked in Wanfuqiao, a northern suburb of Chengdu. It features ground beef, green leaks and garlic with beancurd, accompanied by chile oil. The dish is hot, spicy and tender.

Jinlin Street
Jinli Street is a rebuilt trading and folk art street imitating the ancient-style buildings in West Sichuan. "Jinli" is the name of an old street in Han-dynasty Chengdu, meaning "make perfection still more perfect and hide the universe in the universe". The ancient Jinli was one of the oldest and the most commercialized streets in the history of West Shu and had been well-known throughout the country in Qin, Han, and Three Kingdoms Periods. Today, it is a great place to find interesting souvenirs and enjoy local food.
Qing Yang Gong Temple
Qing Yang Gong Templd is the oldest and largest Taoist temple in the Southwest of China. It is situated in the western portion of Chengdu City. The most magnificent building is the Eight Trigrams Pavilion. Built on square foundations, with a colored glazed dome on top. This octagonal building reflects the ancient Chinese philosophy that ¡°the sky is round and the earth is square¡±.
Wuhou Memorial Temple
Situated in the south suburb of Chengdu, Wuhou Memorial Temple covers an area of 3.7 hectares. It is dedicated to the memory of both Liu Bei (161 - 223), Emperor of the Kingdom of Shu in the Three Kingdoms period (220 - 280), and Zhuge Liang (181 - 234), Prime Minister of the Kingdom.
Wenshu Monastery
Wenshu Monastery stands in the northern part of Chengdu City. It is the home of the Buddhist Association of Sichuan Province and Chengdu. Perhaps the best thing about the monastery is the bustling crowd of worshippers who flock to the place. Together with the exquisite relief carvings that decorate many of the buildings in the complex, they render the temple well worth a visit.
Kuan&Zhai Alley
A must see place! It¡¯s a beautiful newly constructed area made to look like an alley of ancient times. You can find some of Chengdu¡¯s best restaurants, cafes, and specialty shops located here. You can enjoy a quiet stroll or for the adventurous, a nice traditional ear-cleaning.
Giant Panda Breeding Center
Situated on the Axe Hill 10 kilometers north of Chengdu, this 600-acre research station and breeding ground has been in operation since in 1987, opened to the public in early in 1995. 40 plus pandas as well as other endangered species like lesser pandas and black-necked crane currently reside at the base in quarters. There is also a semi-wild breeding area where China's animal ambassadors will be eventually being allowed to freely roam. A museum has detailed exhibits on panda evolution, habits, habitats and conservation efforts.

Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area
Jiuzhaigou Valely lies in Nanping County, northern Sichuan Province in the southern part of the Minshan range. Stretching over 72,000 square kilometers in the northern part of Sichuan Province, the jagged Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area reaches a height of more than 4,800 meters, thus comprising a series of diverse forest ecosystems. Its name is due to the existence of nine stockaded villages of Tibetan origin. It is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1992.
Leshan Giant Buddha
The Buddha is located to the east of Leshan City, Sichuan Province, at the confluence of three rivers, namely, Min River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River. It is carved into the cliffs of Mt. Lingyun. A local saying describes the Buddha like this: "The Mountain unveils a Buddha, while the Buddha fades into the mountain.
Mount Emei
Mt. Emeishan, seven kilometers southwest of Emeishan City, 160 kilometers southwest of Chengdu, is like a huge green screen standing in the southwest of the Chengdu Plain. The mountain stretches more than 200 kilometers from south to north. Its main peak, Wanfo Top, is 3,099 meters above sea level. Its charming scenery has won it the name of "Mt. Emeishan, the Greatest Beauty under Heaven.¡±
Dujiangyan Irrigation Project
Dujiangyan is the oldest and only surviving no-dam irrigation system in the world; and a wonder in the development of Chinese science. The project consists of three important parts, namely Yuzui, Feishayan and Baopingkou scientifically designed to automatically control the water flow of the rivers from the mountains to the plains throughout the year.

Tea Culture
Tranditionally, Chinese people enjoy drinking tea. The local teahouse has always been the equivalent in Chengdu of the French caf¨¦ of the British pub. Teahouses sprawl over Chengdu sidewalks, in back-alley sections and suburbs. There is a saying: ¡°China has the best teahouses in the world, and Chengdu has the best teahouses in China¡±. Local people, especially the elderly, usually go to teahouses to sip tea, chat, and play Majiang. Some teahouses present performances like local opera and story telling.

Sichuan Opera is one of the Chinese oldest and most popular arts. The dbly funny comedians. Sichuan Opera is best known for its unique skills such as changing faces, ifre spitting, and rolling light.
Shu Embroidery and Shu Brocade
Shu embroidery also called ¡°Chuan embroidery¡±, has been one of the four famous embroidery styles in China since the Han Dynasty. The embroidery uses locally produced colorful satin and threads as its materials. Some unique designs of Shu embroidery include flowers, birds, landscapes, fish, worms and human figures.
